My first blog post!! Welcome to Naked Leather! I want to make this a place where you can come and learn about leather. I will share the knowledge that I have acquired from 20 years as a designer and manufacturer of leather clothing. I will share with you terminology, techniques, uses, applications and so on.
I LOVE leather! Otherwise I wouldn't have been in this business. The smell of it is wonderful, each leather has it's own distinct hand (the feel of it. See? you are learning terminology already!). It is sensual, beautiful, has function and form. I can teach you techniques for sewing leather on a walking foot, compound feed industrial machine. Heck, I can teach you how to do it on a home table-top machine like I sewed my first biker jacket on in 1986! It can be done! I'll find a picture of that first jacket and post it here.
